I am fairly new to this MUD running, and everything is going ok so far. I want to add some councils and deities. How do I do this, and is there anything else I should know? Like that it won't save? I have created several new objects, but when the server goes down or crashes, and I restart the SMAUG, it says they don't exist anymore. Is there anyway I can fix this?

Also, how does the avatar (what is it even) play a role in the game? I see it under clans but I don't know how to setup clans, so I don't really understand.

Thank you for all your help!

(I currently have cygwin, but am having trouble compiling, I will post a message in the other forum about that)

You are stretching my knowledge with these questions. I ported the server from Unix to Windows, but am not familiar with every aspect of it.

I suggest you follow the links at the next level up in the forum "Running the server" and see if they help with deities etc.
