Hello! Im runing vista as a non Admin. and when i stop muchclient and try and start it again this pops up, This application has failed to start because lua5.1.dll was not found. Re-installing the application my fix this problem.
If I download the client again it will run but when i close it and try clicking on the icon from the desktop it pops that unble to locate componet.??? any ideas? outside of runing as admin. thanks
Which version of MUSHclient are you using?
I can't reproduce this problem. I changed the installer for version 4.43 so I thought maybe that introduced a problem for Vista.
However on my Vista PC, with a non-administrator account, I uninstalled and re-installed version 4.43 (you need an administrator account to actually do the install).
Once installed, when it asked "Launch MUSHclient now?" it worked. I connected to a MUD, closed the program, went to the Start menu, found the MUSHclient menu item, and started it up again OK. No problems.
Have you installed it in a different way perhaps? The standard install does not put an icon on the desktop. The file lua5.1.dll needs to be in the same directory as MUSHclient.exe.
If you, for example, dragged the MUSHclient.exe file from somewhere (like, to the desktop) and tried to execute it on its own you might get that message because you also did not get the lua5.1.dll file. It also needs a file locale\en.dll which is put into that folder by the standard installer.
Perhaps you can clarify exactly what you did?
I fixed it! thanks for your help. I just saved Mush to dvd r and now i just run it off the disc:)
