Yeah, how do you change the main window background? And also the words don't seem to contrast right. How can I change the colors of the word?

See the world configuration -> Appearance -> ANSI colour (Alt+6).
Click on the box with a "B" on it to change the background colour.
You can also change all the other ANSI colours by clicking the colour swatches and selecting a new one, or you could try clicking on the "Darker" or "Lighter" boxes to make a batch change.

Changing fonts may help too. See See the world configuration -> Appearance -> Output (Alt+5). Some fonts look crisper than others.
