Changing Level Cap

How does the level system in Smaug work and how would I change the player level cap?

I'm still not sure how the levels work in regards to immortals either.

Help with understanding these things would be great.

You have to change MAX_LEVEL in mud.h, along with all helpfile levels and command levels.
