Trying to use the patch command on cygnus for adding color to this tartarus mud but it doesnt recognize the command is it i need to update my cygwin source with patch and if so where will it be okay thanks

Patch is part of the compiler or utilities section of Cygnus - I'm not sure which. If you do a full install you should get it.
