Password issues?

I'm having some player password issues. A player cannot log on his character anymore, it's always saying wrong password even though he hasn't changed it. So I try to reset it, loadup, and force password:
Log: Zeno: force Derius password admin admin
Log: Derius changing thier password with no descriptor!
Ok.

Enter your hero's name, or type new:
Derius
Password: admin
Wrong password.

Yet if I try this on another character, the forced password while linkdead will work. Passwords are still in crypt. Does anyone know whats wrong?

Erm, something very odd here. Another char with a pass problem. I changed Rafe's password to admin1, and look at this log:
Monitor: Rafe; arg: admin1, encryp-arg: KyFtBUxGh0VrY encryp-pass: Kynx1QLpsDInY

In his pfile:
Password Ra6VT.CzB.rxQ~

admin1 + Rafe =
Those two arguments encrypted result in: Ra6VT.CzB.rxQ

This isn't good. I will convert to MD5 sometime, but I'd like this fixed first. Does anyone have any clue?

[EDIT] ... This makes no sense.
[zeno@boralis player]$ grep Kynx1QLpsDInY */*
k/Kyatto:Password Kynx1QLpsDInY~

Kyatto was on at the time. I forced Kyatto to quit, and I was able to log on Rafe with pass being admin1. What the.

[EDIT 2] Er, it appears I ran into an ignore problem, what this is.

The last person on Rafe's ignore list was Kyatto, which was who the password was being checked against.

The last person on Derius's ignore list was Alexander, which was who the password was being checked against.

[EDIT 3] Bug confirmed. I took Alexander off Derius's ignore list, and Derius was able to sign on. This seems to only happen when the ignored player is online.

[EDIT 4] I've installed md5, and this problem still exists. Oh noes. :(

Which codebase you running? (version of SMAUG). I have FUSS 1.6, and the Admin player you are supposed to start up with won't run because of a password issue. I even went in and changes the pass manually in the pfile and even that pass doesn't work...

The password is encoded by default. I believe the default admin char's password is admin. However, if you changed it you will likely need to grab the file from the dist and drop it in again.
