erwin's board + smaug, reasonable sensible combination?

Alright,

I've been working on this for a couple of months now and I havent come up with a workable compromise. I do like the concept behind the erwin board model, parts of it are kind of cool, however, with that being said I am trying to retain parts of the smaug concept - such as physical boards in actual rooms.

Does anyone have or know of a snippet that combines the two? Or have a suggestion on how I might go about creating a new board system that merges the two together?

You want the two merged into one system? Hmm. I have both global boards and basic room boards installed and working, is that what you mean?

Fair question. Law school on the brain, my question wasn't that great.

Right now the Global Board has functions such as a "global check", mine is boardcheck where it shows you:

>
boardcheck

Name Unread Total Description
======== ====== ===== ===========
General [ 0] [ 4] General discussion
Ideas [ 0] [ 2] Suggestion for improvement
Announce [ 0] [ 1] Announcements from ..
Bugs [ 0] [ 0] Typos, bugs, errors

Smaug obviously doesn't have such a function, or ability to display total number of posts or those that are unread.

What I want is to, obviously include that function, but with the smaug system to produce something that looks like this:

>note list

1) Frobozz : All : MIX LIQUIDS!
2) Frobozz : All : Adjectives
3) Frobozz : All : adv's 2
4) Frobozz : All : area assignments
5) Frobozz : All : help xa
6) Frobozz : All : xa/hp
7) Mabelrode : All : Gameplan
8} Frobozz : Builders : Building Guides
9) Mabelrode : All * : Gameplan Part 2
10) Mabelrode : All * : Gameplan Part 3
11) Frobozz : All * : New code
12) Mabelrode : All * : Gameplan Part 4

(* denoting something that's unread when person LOOKS at the board)

Does that make my query a little bit more clear?

And the formatting blew there, sorry.

I saw a few snippets that would help you with something like this I believe...

Something like that would work for you?

Yep that was one piece of the puzzle, Im still not sure how to flag each post as being unread/read or changing look to display a "note list" when looking at a board.

Hmm, I'm not sure either, but you could just look over how gboards is set up. But the problem is, boards have many more actual boards than gboards normally would.

Hmm you could just add a new field.. like isread, and mark it with a number or word of some sort, and if that word/number isn't present, than display the * like was displayed earlier.
