Help with others Connecting

Ok, I know this question has alread been asked a few times but i am also having major trouble with it. I can connect to my smaug on my pc with no troubles... the problem is that no body that isnt at this pc can connect. I am curently using a DI-604 ethernet broadband router (the I may be an L) and i an using the 1.4a version of smaug i believe. This is a Windows XP computer. My firewalls are all down i believe. I think it may have something to do with me port fowarding or something. But first off just to make sure, what IP do i use? 192.168.0.100 which seems to be a common IP which i doubt is used or 68.19.40.180 which seems more logical. But if you can help me i would be very aprisiative.

The 192.168.etc IP is definitely not what you want to use. That is an address on the local network, not a public IP address.

You would want to use the public address of your router, which would have to be set up to forward the ports to your local computer. You'd have to refer to your manual for how to do that with your router; can't help you more than what you have to do in general. :)

Ok, I tried the whole port allowing thing on my router and it seems it didnt work.

theres a pic of it... If anybody sees an error please tell me, or if this isnt the right thing i should be fiddiling with please tell me. Oh the other ip, wont work on that it told me to use this one and the other one isnt a valid IP to input

I beleive that the virtual serve your setting up is for people on your lan, you want port forwarding I beleive.

hmmm... Port fowarding... i guess i will have to look and find one of those options... Would you know anything about that?

What port are you running it on? Cause your not forwarding that port is what it looks like, destination you will need to specify your local IP of the computer its running on, and I would specify the port, or at least the port range(4800-4899), but you don't want to leave it open.

GRRR!!!!... Ok the problem is that there isnt a "port fowarding" option in my router config... So it is confusing on figureing out what i need to set up and where/how...

Ok... I know a good deal about computers, not as much about routers but i know a little, but right now i am completely lost. Ive been trying things for about 4 days now and no luck at all. I just dont think i have the right things set in the right places. If anybody knows what to put where please tell me. I am using the default port 4000 to run the mud.
