replacement typing question

When you type something out; and at the spur of the moment you need to clear the writing section quickly to type something up; or to go to a previous history item which you just used a moment ago. Is there a way to turn off the
"replace your typing of "asdf" with "fdsa" popup.

I stand corrected; I found it through messing through the commands -> keyboard preferences -> confirm before replacing typing.
