hyperlinking

Is there ANY way to do hyperlinking with forum codes or otherwise? Even if you restricted them to in-site URLs this would be nice (ie. "this topic has already been covered, click on here to go to the relevant post in this forum" type thing), anyway.. testing:

[a href="http://www.gammon.com.au/forum/bbshowpost.php?bbsubject_id=1506";]this[/a].

The problem with hyperlinks, apart from possibly being abused, is that the forum codes currently work with a simple text replacement, eg. [b] becomes <b> without any context check.

Now if someone opened a hyperlink but forgot to close it, or mistyped the close, then the entire rest of that subject might turn into a huge hyperlink.

Maybe I could add a box for "see also this post" which you suggested, and you would just type the subject number into that box.
