hi,

i did try run smaug 1.4a windows compiled version on linux by wine and work fine apparently, apart reboot..
Is good use wine for run smaug or not convenient?

If you have a Linux box it is probably preferable to compile Smaug natively (not using Wine).

Also Smaug 1.4a is a pretty old version.

More recent versions are at https://smaugmuds.afkmods.com/

They will have been kept more up-to-date and are more likely to compile under modern C compilers.
