when i put up the the original smaug 1.4a it works fine, then i replace the .c files with those which i have edited and make clean, make. compiles fine and when i do a copyover the changes work no problems, but if the mud crashes or if i shut it down when i run the startup script it will not run past 1st line of it #! /bin/csh -f
is this something with the code or is it to do with something else? once i cant get it back up i re-unzup smaug and go back and do the ./startup and it will begin but the o files are still same from my edited and it works same as did before crash with my changes, so i can function by keep reunzipping etc but its a pain..

thanx
Chris *lost his hair day he began hosting a mud*

I don't see why you need to re-unzip.

What operating system are you using? I seem to remember having to change the startup to use tsh not just csh.

for future reference of anyone having similar problem, my startup file was in dos, had to convert to unix before it worked
