Reagents count error

I'm using version 4.98 of MushClient. After I installed Windows 10, the reagents counter was missing, and when I tried to turn the mini window on, it used to give me a movewindow error and now it doesn't say anything.

Count reags works fine, there just isn't a window. The other addons seem to be working. It was working fine in Windows 7.

It got the error again, it's:
Error in movewindow.save_state: no window movement info for: d2b442f2da9a95f34f5a199f

Is that a plugin?
#3
Yes, it's a plugin, is this the wrong place to post it at?
Australia Forum Administrator #4
I regret that I don't know what this reagents count plugin, that you speak of, is.
#5
It came with the whole addon package from the MM website. I think it's called count_reagents. I assumed it came from here.
USA Global Moderator #6
I don't know what MM is.

Can you maybe provide a link to the plugin?

MM is Materia Magica, the mud I play. There are several plugins for them.

Please post the error message.

It's at the top of the postings. Error in movewindow.save_state: no window movement info for: d2b442f2da9a95f34f5a199f

Template:summary

Please provide a summary of your world configuration:

  • Either use the scripting Immediate window (Ctrl+I) to execute: Debug ("summary")

    or

  • Install the Summary plugin (see "Summary" feature) and type "summary"

Then copy the resulting information from the output window, and paste into a Forum message.

You need version 4.55 onwards of MUSHclient to do this.

You probably need to delete the state file for your plugin. That information will help work out which file to delete.

Here's the summary:
The software said the size needs to be less then 6000 characters so I'll break it up.

That's a lot of plugins! Under your plugins folder (which itself is under the worlds folder) there should be a folder called "state" which is where the plugin state files are.

Based on your world ID and plugin ID there should be a file in the "state" folder called:

0b9b5196beabf866b5f18fbc-d2b442f2da9a95f34f5a199f-state.xml

That's the world ID followed by the plugin ID for the "reagents_counter" plugin.

Close MUSHclient. Then delete that file (0b9b5196beabf866b5f18fbc-d2b442f2da9a95f34f5a199f-state.xml). Then re-open MUSHclient.

Warning: If the state file holds all sorts of useful information this may not be a good idea. I'm not sure what that plugin does, so I can't say.

You may want to make a copy of that state file before deleting it, in case you lose valuable info about your reagents.

Also see the web page about that plugin https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/65599194/html/Reagents_Buy_plugin.html. You could ask the author for advice. Judging by what that says it just automates buying reagents, it may not remember useful things.
Australia Forum Administrator #14
I notice the reagents plugin has a window:

Window: 'd2b442f2da9a95f34f5a199f', at (1403,444,1560,634), shown: yes
        width: 157, height: 190, position: 0, hotspots: 3, fonts: 2, images: 0

I gather you can't see it? It might be off to one side. Can you make the MUSHclient window larger temporarily? It looks like it is at X=1403, Y=1560 position on the screen.

Try fiddling around with the main world window size (eg. scrolling it sideways and making it larger) to see if you can spot the reagents window. Then drag it back to where you want it.
Amended on Tue 04 Aug 2015 08:08 PM by Nick Gammon
#15
Deleting the state file didn't change anything, and the window is maximized, so I'll try changing my resolution and see if I can spot it.
#16
I can only reduce the resolution and that didn't help. Would a complete reinstall of everything work, or is there a way to tweak the window settings so I can see it?
Australia Forum Administrator #17
Please open your plugins list (Shift+Ctrl+P) and then RH-double click the plugin in the plugins list. You should see the state file open. Copy and paste what you see into your reply here. It should look something like this:

OK, well I suggest you close the client first (otherwise it might save on top of this file). Then with that file open in Notepad or similar change these lines:

  <variable name="mw_d2b442f2da9a95f34f5a199f_windowx">1403</variable>
  <variable name="mw_d2b442f2da9a95f34f5a199f_windowy">444</variable>

Make them smaller so you have some hope of finding the window, eg. 50, 50

  <variable name="mw_d2b442f2da9a95f34f5a199f_windowx">50</variable>
  <variable name="mw_d2b442f2da9a95f34f5a199f_windowy">50</variable>

Restart the client and you should see the window. If not, something strange is going on.

It's definitely something weird, because the file name that double right clicking shows doesn't exit in that folder, even though the path is correct, but if I tell the notepad that it opened to save, it asks to overwrite.

If I use file explorer to copy in a modified file that I had it save as, it doesn't ask to overwrite, but Mushclient is still using the old settings.

I'm going to try and uninstall then delete the folder, then reinstall and try it again.

I also tried looking in each of the files and it wasn't there.

I did a complete reinstall into the users/Jack folder, and now I have the mini window and can resize and move it, but count reags goes through my bags, but neither the mini window or the summary at the end of count reags is showing anything.

Also, if the plugin is running, and I type look in bag, it also adds look in 12.bag.

I figured out the problem Nick. For some reason, Windows 10 thought that reagents_count was from another computer and blocked the file.

All I did to get it working was tell Windows to unblock it.

It did what? Is there a website somewhere documenting this...feature?

Wow. Anyway, glad it is working. :)

It turns out that all the .xml files in the plugins/MM folder were blocked too, so I searched the web and found this easy solution instead of right clicking on each file:

Option 1: (If you do this before you unzip the downloaded file)
1. Right click on the zip file.
2. Choose properties
3. Choose unblock in the bottom right of the screen.
4. Choose apply

Option 2: (If you already unzipped it)

1. Go into the folder and select all.
2. Right click and choose send to..compressed file
3. Delete the original files
4. Unzip the files into the original folder, or move them from the folder created by unzip in the correct folder.

Hmm. Actually Windows 7 has this, "From another computer." thing too. I think its Microsoft's silly answer to the Unix file flag, which makes programs, "Do not execute.", if they are installed certain ways, like from a zip file, and thus potentially "unsafe". I had to keep forcing, "Run as administrator.", on one application, which is to say right click - Run as, not just setting the file to do so, for a while, before I got annoyed and decided to google why the frack it was happening. Turns out, if you bring up the files properties, i.e. right click - Properties, one of the tabs will show it as locked, or some such, and you can unlock it, but, presumably only if you are using an account with admin privileges.

I have no clue why its doing this to an XML file, other then that it may be marking the file as "do not run", or something, as a result of being in a zip, instead of generated "on you system", or otherwise saved via a) an installer, or b) off the internet, manually.

I find it sort of a toss up. On one hand.. it adds a bit of extra safety, which Windows didn't have, but on the other.. who the F knows what else it will break...

It seems odd to me that you cannot "run" an XML file. Particularly as I chose that extension for plugins principally because they had XML inside them, they aren't intended to be executed by your web browser. I could have called them ".plugin" files.

That flag appears to be stopped MUSHclient from just opening that file for reading. I don't see what Windows is really saving you from by doing that.

It blocked your .mcl files too, so things like update plugins lastlist stopped remembering what it updated.

I feel for you Nick, I was in tech support for 15 years, but think how boring it would be without players like me to bring up these challenging (Aggravating) issues:)

Well, it appears that MCL at least can be a Media Center Link, which is sort of an app for Windows Media Center. And, when it comes to xml in general, I suppose Windows is now paranoid about anything that might contain script, which "does" execute in a browser, in any fashion at all. The former however is, technically, a deprecated file format for Windows. Which, I suppose, might be another reason new versions of Windows are paranoid about them. Sadly, this isn't the Apple OS, where a file is tagged now just with an extension, but meta data, which the OS can recognize, defining "what" program it belongs to. :(
