I was just realizing something about my mud.. if a person link-dies, it doesn't seem to disconnect them. I'm using Windows XP.. has anyone else run into this problem?

I beleive that there is a delay on it, like, 5 minutes or something. Are you saying they never makes the character quit? Cause I can't figure out another way that you can go link-dead without disconnecting.

Well, I've just noticed this yesturday. It appears whenever someone doesn't quit, if I type "finger *person*" their laston info tells me

IP Info: (Link-Dead)

Instead of their last IP address. And whenever you reconnect with a person who's link dead, no matter how long it's been, it always seems to say

Reconnecting.

I first noticed this with an immortal character I test things with after I used the "loadup" command. Loaded him up to check something, forced them to quit, and then when I logged back in with him a week later, it said:

Reconnecting.

I know there is previous issues with Windows handling socket closings, but I didn't know XP had issues too. And the only thing I've done to change and socket closing changes was I added the changing from of Nick's post about keeping Immortals from loging off like normal players.

Fast update: Just watched a test player log out after about a half hour of being link dead. I think it's just Imm's. So I guess with the changes I made fromNick's post that should be normal then.

Guess everything's ok... my bad. :)
