| I have been mudding for almost 9 years, and have recently decided to start my own mud. Can anyone direct me to a site that has information for starting a mud from the ground up. A step by step if you will. I was informed to search for rom 2.4b and found this site, and i have downloaded the rom 2.4b zip and the olc that goes with it, but after that i am lost with what to do.

| It's hard to know where to start - without knowing anything about you we don't know if you need help setting up a server, getting a domain name, making areas, finding builders, advertising the MUD, getting players, getting admins, and so on.
I suggest installing ROM (however you might find SMAUG or Dawn Of Time - both available here - easier) and then working your way through the admin commands in your own time. Maybe get a couple of friends to join the MUD as players and see what you need to do to help them, eg. give them things, move them from room to room.
There is a list of SMAUG admin commands on the SMAUG FAQ here, that might help.
After that, post a more specific question - eg. "how do I give players more food?". |
