| Well I have tried many htings so maybe if we could go back to basics...I downloaded Cygwin to C:\Documents and settings\Jack Wall\Dektop\realms of bailure\Cygwin
Now to make the problem easier to solve...what should i do now? I use Win XP
Basically to side-step all my problems could someone give me a step-by-step on how to compile the Smaug source code using Start-All programs-accessories-command prompt ?
any help would be appreciated..tried reading help files and documents but just get lost..

| Well if noone can give me directions then these are my problems...
Once i opened the command prompt and go to the directory of the ource code...type 'make' but it says it is 'blah blah basically saying not a valid internal or external command?' or if i try to go to the cygwin directory and type 'cygwin' it says the same as before only instead of 'make' it says 'bash' is an invalid interna/external command..... | | Top |

| You need to use the Cygwin bash icon (it may be put somewhere in the Start menu), not the Windows command window. Changing directories won't help.
In my case the Cygwin shortcut does this:
D:\cygwin\cygwin.bat
So, maybe use the command window, find the Cygwin directory, and then type: cygwin.bat |

| | Sounds like you haven't installed all of Cygwin. Also, please post the actual error message (you can "edit" in the command window, and then copy and paste). The "blah blah" part doesn't help much. |
