It seems a lot of users of this forum would be happy to stay with it, if it could be customised to their personal preferences a little more.

There is now user-level customisation of the various colours you see on the forum. Edit your forum 'user profile' to see the possible colours you can change. You can also change the font used to display each page.

Example of customised page:

Please let me know of any problems you experience in using this.

If you come up with a nice complementary set of colours (ie, ones that work well as a unit) feel free to let me know so they can be offered as a "theme".

To help customise your forum colours, here are some screenshots that show where each colour is used.

  1. Body of page.

This is the background colour for every page, other than where otherwise changed. If you select a non-blank colour then the normal textured background image is suppressed.

  2. Sections list background.

This is the background shading behind the list of major forum sections (on the main forum page).

  3. Read/unread separator line.

This is the colour of the line that separates read/unread posts.

  4. Frequent posters background.

This is the shading colour used behind the 'frequent posts', 'recent posts', 'forum joined by' etc. part of the main forum page.

Now we'll move onto the 'topics' page (eg. MUSHclient, SMAUG, Area Editor).

  5. Topics heading background.

This is the shading behind the heading of the topics list.

  6. Topics list background.

This is the shading behind the list of topics itself.

  7. LH table.

This is the shading behind headings for general table entries (eg. when you edit your profile).

  8. RH table.

This is the shading used for the data entry part of general table entries (eg. when editing your profile, sending mail messages).

Now we'll move onto the 'subjects' page - that is, the list of subjects (threads) for a particular topic.

  9. Threads heading background.

This is the shading behind the heading of the threads list.

  10. Read threads background.

This is the shading behind threads that you have read.

  11. Unread threads background.

This is the shading behind threads that you have not yet read.

Now we'll move onto the an actual forum thread page. This is the page that displays the individual posts for a thread.

  12. Thread heading text.

This is text colour for the thread title. It should be a colour that stands out from the next entry, the thread heading background.

  13. Thread heading background.

This is the shading behind the thread heading.

  14. Post heading background.

This is the shading behind the LH side of the individual posts - where the words 'posted by', 'date' etc. are.

  15. Posts background.

This is the shading behind the individual posts.

  16. Signature rule.

This is colour of the line that separates the posting from the signature.

  17. Signature.

This is the text colour of the signature.

  18. Errors.

This is the text colour of error messages (eg. required field not entered).

  19. Text.

This is the text colour for most body text (excluding text colours set above).

All of these can be changed in your forum profile (if you join the forum, and then log in to it). The colours are near the bottom of the profile page, and are listed in the above order, with the same headings as used here.
